Celebrating Shabbat and holidays throughout the Jewish year
We celebrate Shabbat together nearly every week.
Some Friday night services are held in hybrid format (in-person and via zoom), while others are online-only services. A light “oneg shabbat” of snacks is sponsored by members of the congregation most Friday nights following our “hybrid” services. Friday services always begin at 7 p.m.
One Saturday Shabbat Torah service is held each month at 10 a.m. At the conclusion of the service we have a dairy/vegetarian potluck followed by a participatory Torah study.
We hold services for the High Holydays in the fall, and community celebrations for Sukkot, Hanukkah, Purim, Passover and Shavuot. Members receive a monthly electronic newsletter as well as weekly email service reminders. Visit our calendar at the link below (all dates and times subject to change).
2026 High Holy Days Services
Bet Chaverim welcomes visitors to participate in our warm, informal, participatory services during the fall High Holy Day season.
Our services this year will be led by cantorial soloist Miriam Blau along with members of our congregation. All are welcome and no fee is charged to attend (but we very much appreciate donations).
All attendees need to register in advance for the services using the form below.
Note that no firearms or weapons of any kind may be brought to services and our security team will be checking bags and using a metal detection device.
We will be participating in the High Holy Day food drive in cooperation with Jewish Family Service of Greater Seattle. Bags will be available to pick up when you come for services on Rosh Hashahah and you can bring them back full of your food donations on Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah:
Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. – Erev Rosh Hashanah service
Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. – Rosh Hashanah day service
Following the service we’ll have a light kiddush lunch and then go to a nearby park for our annual “tashlich” ceremony.
Yom Kippur:
Sunday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. – Erev Yom Kippur/Kol Nidre service
Monday, Sept. 21
10 a.m. – Yom Kippur Morning Service
1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. – break
3 p.m. – Stories of Teshuvah/Forgiveness
4 p.m. – Yizkor (memorial) service
5:15 p.m. – Ne’ilah service
6 p.m. – light break fast
Sukkot:
Sunday, Sept. 27 from 2-5 p.m. – Community Sukkot Celebration led by Cantor David Serkin Poole. Bring the family and join us to celebrate this fall harvest holiday with music, food, crafts, stories, a chance to shake the lulav and etrog. Free!
